The Subway food chain began operations in Thailand in 2003 through Food Forward Co., Ltd., with its first branch on Silom Road. Over time, additional locations were opened as franchises under Subway International BV, eventually growing to more than 20 branches.
In 2019, About Passion Group Co., Ltd. acquired the Master Franchise rights for Subway in Thailand, overseeing the rights to over 20 branches previously established.
Between 2019 and 2024, About Passion Group Co., Ltd. expanded the number of Subway locations to 150 branches across Thailand.
In July 2022, About Passion Group Co., Ltd. announced it had secured an additional 10-year Master Franchise agreement, covering February 2022 to 2032.
However, in February 2024, PTG Energy Public Co., Ltd. declared itself the sole Master Franchise holder for Subway in Thailand, operating through its subsidiary, Golok Co., Ltd., which is under Thai Coffee Co., Ltd. Notably, the CEO of About Passion Group Co., Ltd. was also listed as a shareholder.
In March 2024, About Passion Group Co., Ltd. reaffirmed its position as the Master Franchise holder for Subway.
Most recently, by Q4 2024, Subway customers began noticing a decline in the brand's quality in Thailand.
In early November 2024, the official Subway Thailand Facebook page, now managed by Golok (PTG), announced that 105 Subway branches had had their franchise agreements terminated since July 2024.
