On November 7 at 11:30 PM, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 km in Myanmar, according to Thailand’s Department of Mineral Resources Earthquake Operations Center. The quake was triggered by the left-lateral strike-slip movement of the Mengxing Fault.
Tremors were felt across multiple areas in Thailand's northern provinces, including Chiang Rai (in Chiang Saen, Chiang Khong, Mae Sai, Mae Fah Luang, Mae Chan, Wiang Chai, Mueang Chiang Rai, Wiang Chiang Rung, Doi Luang, and Mae Suai districts), Chiang Mai (Fang and Mae Ai districts), and Mae Hong Son (Pai district). No damage has been reported as of the initial assessment.
