The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has issued a one-year suspension to Thai wheelchair racing athlete Prawat Wahoram for failing to comply with anti-doping regulations. According to IPC rules, athletes must undergo anti-doping tests and provide accurate location details, including a specified one-hour timeframe, within a 12-month period. Prawat reportedly failed to provide this information and missed scheduled tests twice between May 1, 2023, and April 21, 2024.
As a result, Prawat is barred from competition from July 19, 2024, to July 18, 2025. Additionally, all his race results, medals, points, and prize money from April 21, 2024, onward have been annulled. This includes results from his participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, where he competed in men’s T54 wheelchair races in the 800, 1,500, and 5,000 meters.
Prawat is a veteran Paralympian, having previously competed in six Paralympic Games and won seven gold, seven silver, and one bronze medal.
