On November 12, at 2:00 PM in the Thai Parliament, Thitikarn Thitipruitikul, MP for Phuket from the People's Party and spokesperson for the House Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Environment, announced that the committee will hold a meeting on November 13 to urgently examine the contentious Khao Kradong land dispute in Buriram Province. This investigation aims to clarify whether the land use and ownership comply with legal standards.
The dispute has been viewed by some as a political maneuver between the Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai parties. Thitikarn referenced comments from Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who denied any political motivations and stated that he was not directly involved. However, Thitikarn noted that as Minister of the Interior, Anutin oversees the Department of Lands, making it difficult to claim complete detachment. The committee intends to investigate why legal actions have not yet followed a prior court ruling, emphasizing that all parties must adhere to the same legal framework.
