On November 15, former Democrat Party MP Vilas Chanpitak criticized the Department of Lands for issuing a letter stating it was "not appropriate" to revoke land titles overlapping land claimed by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). Despite Supreme Court rulings confirming the land belongs to the SRT, the department argued the SRT lacked evidence of ownership. Vilas questioned the political silence on the issue and urged officials to act in accordance with the law and court decisions, warning against political interference.
He alleged that certain ministers have ties to the disputed land and criticized the Department of Lands for defying court rulings by failing to revoke the titles. Vilas also noted the historical complexity of the Khao Kradong case, dating back to a 1919 royal decree. He raised concerns about conflicting documents and past agreements, such as a 1970 meeting where former politician Chai Chidchob reportedly acknowledged SRT ownership but was allowed to use the land temporarily.
Vilas vowed to monitor the case closely and present further evidence. He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s rulings must be respected and questioned the motives of those attempting to challenge or delay enforcement.
