Following the Yi Peng Festival held in Chiang Mai from November 15-17, 2024, the Chiang Mai Irrigation Project reported that 25 tons of krathong debris were collected at the Pa Daet Watergate in Mueang District. This marks a 25% reduction compared to the 33 tons collected in 2023. Notably, 90% of the materials were eco-friendly, with only 10% consisting of foam, bread, and other materials.
To further promote environmental cleanliness, a cleanup campaign under the "Clean City, Happy Nation" initiative is scheduled for November 19, 2024, at the Pa Daet Watergate. The event will involve personnel from the Chiang Mai Irrigation Project, the local Pa Daet municipality, administrative officials, and volunteers. The cleanup is expected to take 2-3 days, focusing on krathong debris and other waste from the festival.
