On November 18, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized Thailand’s readiness for the impact of Typhoon Manny, particularly in the southern regions. He stated that provincial governors and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation have already prepared comprehensive plans to respond to potential disasters. Special attention is being given to landslide-prone areas, with checkpoints established to warn travelers and ensure safety. Equipment and personnel are also on standby to address issues such as road collapses, landslides, and flood debris.

In Mae Sai District, where flooding recently occurred, recovery efforts are underway. The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning has proposed long-term flood mitigation measures, including permanent dikes and dams. Additionally, illegal encroachments, such as those in Sai Lom Joy Market, which have disrupted water flow, will be addressed through land reclamation and redesigning drainage systems. These actions aim to prevent future flooding and support the affected communities as the country braces for the incoming typhoon.
