On November 19 at 9:45 AM, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, addressed the status of the 20-baht flat-rate electric train fare policy. While it has been proposed for Cabinet review, it is expected to be discussed in next week’s meeting. There are no plans to extend train routes at this time.

Regarding the duration of the extension, Mr. Suriya noted that the previous one-year measure has expired. A new committee under the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has been established, and efforts are underway to finalize the proposal before the measure expires.

The policy has been well-received by the public, with increased ridership and revenue reported.
