Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is pursuing additional criminal charges against 18 executives of The Icon Group under laws governing fraudulent lending practices and direct sales. On November 10, Deputy DSI Director Lt. Col. Yuthana Praedam announced that DSI investigators would visit the Bangkok Remand Prison and Central Women’s Correctional Institution to formally notify the accused of the new charges. This action follows unanimous agreement among DSI investigators on the necessity of these charges under the 1984 Fraudulent Lending Ordinance (Sections 4 and 5) and the 2002 Direct Selling and Direct Marketing Act (Sections 19 and 20).

Some defense attorneys have indicated that certain executives may not yet be prepared to receive these charges, potentially delaying the process. Once charges are formally filed, investigators can extend custody periods to 84 days from the original 48-day limit.

The investigation team includes Lt. Col. Woranan Srilam, Director of the DSI’s Financial Crime Division, who will handle charges against seven female executives at the women’s correctional facility, while Directors Lt. Col. Anurak Rojnirungkij and Sub-Lt. Surawut Rangsae will address 11 male executives at the Bangkok Remand Prison.

Additionally, DSI is examining 78 land parcels across Thailand potentially linked to the group, as part of a broader probe into suspected Ponzi schemes and financial crime networks. DSI investigative teams are meeting weekly to review progress on these cases.
