On November 11, Thailand’s Department of National Parks and the Hua Hin municipal government began relocating monkeys from Khao Takiab and Khao Hin Lek Fai areas to address ongoing community disturbances. Under the guidance of Natural Resources Minister Dr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the operation targets humane management of wild animals disrupting local areas. Conservation Department Director Somjat Chattana announced that the four-day effort, ending November 14, has thus far captured 20 monkeys—8 males and 12 females. The monkeys will undergo health checks and sterilization at Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Station in Phetchaburi to manage long-term population growth.

This operation employs advanced remote-controlled trapping systems, designed for effectiveness and safety. The traps, 50 cm wide, 120 cm long, and 60 cm high, operate on a 12-volt motorcycle battery and allow officers to remotely close the trap doors from up to 25 meters away. The innovative traps can also expand to hold multiple monkeys, saving time and resources. Director Somjat emphasized that these tools enhance capture efficiency while minimizing direct human-monkey encounters, ensuring a safer environment for personnel. Local residents are encouraged to report monkey disturbances to the Department's hotline at 1362, available 24/7.
