On the evening of November 11, heavy rains in Betong, Yala, led to flash floods that inundated homes near the Gunung Chanong canal in Betong district. Residents quickly moved essential items to higher ground and temporarily parked motorcycles on bridges to prevent damage. Betong’s Deputy Mayor Siri Mongkolprajak, alongside emergency response teams, visited the affected areas to assist residents, particularly vulnerable groups like the elderly and disabled, some of whom were evacuated to stay with relatives until water levels recede.

As of the latest reports, the rain has stopped, and floodwaters are steadily receding. Initial assessments indicate that 26 homes sustained damage. Local authorities are helping residents clean and restore their properties, and further evaluations will determine additional support needs.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department issued a weather alert for November 11-12, warning of heavy rains across southern Thailand and parts of Malaysia due to a monsoon trough. Residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas are advised to remain vigilant against flash floods and follow ongoing updates from the department’s website.
