On November 19, Veerith Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), announced heightened safety measures in response to flood and landslide warnings issued by the National Water Resources Office for Southern Thailand from November 20-26. Recognizing the risk of heavy rainfall in the region, especially from November to mid-January, SRT has directed its teams to enhance monitoring and preparedness to ensure passenger safety and minimize travel disruptions.

Key measures include deploying maintenance staff and equipment, increasing the frequency of railway inspections, clearing drainage systems, and removing obstructive vegetation along railways. Additionally, automatic barriers, signage, and crossing infrastructure are being checked to ensure optimal functionality. Station chiefs and local staff are tasked with continuous situation monitoring and emergency response planning. Temporary shelters and passenger amenities will also be arranged at stations to support affected travelers.

Governor Veerith emphasized that public safety remains the priority, with swift responses and minimal travel disruptions being key objectives during emergencies.
