On November 6, Taiwan News reported that Taiwanese authorities detained three suspects in connection with an abandoned suitcase containing 18.65 kilograms of cannabis at Taoyuan International Airport. The suitcase arrived on a flight from Thailand and was left unclaimed on August 30.

The Aviation Police tracked down two Thai nationals and one Taiwanese suspect. The Taiwanese man, identified only as "Xie," left the airport without the suitcase. The two Thai suspects, who could not speak Mandarin or English, were located the next day at a hotel in New Taipei's Shandong district. They claimed to have been paid 47,000 Taiwanese dollars to transport the drugs but abandoned the luggage due to concerns about illegal contents.

All three suspects were questioned by the Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office and formally charged with drug trafficking violations in October.
