Atthaya Thitikul, ranked 7th in the world, became the second Thai golfer to win the prestigious "CME Group Tour Championship," the season-ending tournament of the LPGA Tour, held in Florida, USA. On November 24, she delivered a stellar performance in the final round, shooting 7-under-par to finish with a total score of 22-under-par 266, narrowly defeating American golfer Angel Yin by one stroke.
Thitikul entered the final round tied with Yin at 15-under-par. Early in the match, Thitikul gained a slight advantage but was overtaken by Yin, who led by two strokes until the 17th hole. Thitikul made a dramatic comeback with an eagle on the par-5 17th, tying Yin at 21-under-par. On the 18th hole, Thitikul executed a precise approach shot to within 6–7 feet of the hole and sank a birdie, while Yin settled for par, securing the championship for the Thai star.
This marks Thitikul's fourth LPGA Tour title and her second of the season, following her win at the "Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational," a team event where she partnered with close friend Yin Ruoning of China.
Thitikul is the second Thai golfer to win the CME Group Tour Championship, following Ariya Jutanugarn's victory in 2017. The win comes with a historic prize of $4 million, the largest ever awarded in women's golf.
